This site was created in 2004, during our 13-month honeymoon…
… before the rise of travel blogs… or any blogs really
… before the ubiquity of cell phones… iPhones hadn’t even been invented yet; we had an iPod, and it was heavy
… updated from dingy internet cafés… nowadays it would be a piece of cake
We finished most of it en route
but we were exhausted when we got home, so we took a short break…
which turned into a couple decades during which it continued to receive a humbling amount of traffic
until it eventually stopped working entirely Flash no longer a safe web techHosting provider → defuncthand-coded HTML: out-of-date
Fast forward to modern times… now we have a couple of (awesome) kids fast approaching adulthood. So for them, so they can see what their parents got up to all those years ago, and for us, and for anybody else that might care, we decided to revive it. It used to function as a living handbook for other travelers; now it is more like a window into the recent past. If you somehow found it, welcome!

(all 10 beats of the scroll-intro now end above, converging on the same “the redux” headline + photo + map + closing copy the static Option C hero below also shows — that duplication is expected for now, a later round will decide whether the static hero gets trimmed once this replaces it for real.)
